On this occasion the calling was shared between
John and our 'Guest' Caller
Philippe Callens with music provided by
Dan & Caroline Hollingshurst of Focus Pocus.
The weekend commenced with dinner on the evening of Friday 21st October, 2011 and concluded
with a farewell dance on the afternoon of Sunday 23rd October.
There was a mixture of dances & workshops, and some free time to explore Great Malvern & the beautiful environs.
On the Saturday afternoon we also had a workshop entitled 'Dance to Philippe's favourite recordings' presented by Philippe.
GUEST CALLER - Philippe Callens
Philippe is known
internationally as a leader of English country dance and also of square and contra dance.
He started dancing in 1975 in Antwerp, Belgium, when he was thirteen, and has been
teaching for more than 30 years. In that period he has steadily gained a reputation as a
leader who can easily combine high quality dancing with the dancer’s personal enjoyment.
In the UK he has appeared at Eastbourne, Broadstairs, Lichfield and Southam festivals
and at the Morland Dance Week, and has led weekends at Dartington Hall, Halsway Manor,
Casterton and Symonds Yat.
His other interests include dance history and reconstruction. He is currently working on
a new collection of English country dances entitled ‘Seasons of Invention’.
We are delighted to welcome Philippe again to his fourth Light-hearted
Dance Weekend.
