THE EVENT

A weekend of English Country Dance to suit all tastes (#27 in the series). The series is organised and led by John & Hilary Turner.
On this occasion the calling was shared between John and our 'Guest' Caller Frances Oates with music provided by Pete & Sue Hall.

The weekend commenced with dinner on the evening of Friday 14th January, 2011 and concluded with a farewell dance on the afternoon of Sunday 16th January. There was a mixture of dances & workshops, and some free time to explore Bournemouth & the beautiful environs.
On the Saturday afternoon we also had a 'Come all ye Caller's' Workshop.

GUEST CALLER - Frances Oates

Frances hails from Redruth in Cornwall, where she has been dancing & calling since a teenager. Having travelled to many parts of the country to dance and call, this wide experience is reflected in her interesting and varied repertoire, including dances from ‘both sides of the pond’. She has called at many dance weekends & festivals including Casterton, Eastbourne, Chippenham, Sidmouth, Southam & Purbeck. She believes that dancing should be fun & that its a wonderful way to keep fit. Her gentle & clear calling style encourages every dancer to enjoy their dancing to the full. Frances runs a local dance club at Illogan, has organised the North Devon Dance Weekend for many years & is currently Minutes Secretary for the Halsway Manor Board.

GUEST MUSICIANS - Pete & Sue Hall.

Pete & Sue are an accordion and recorder duo based in Fareham, Hants, who have been playing for folk dancing for over 30 years, including a notable spell with the Woodfidley display team during the 1980‘s. Whilst they can normally be found playing at folk dance clubs, workshops & public dances in South Hampshire and the New Forest, for special events they venture further afield. ‘We are told our music is light & accomplished with several styles, pleasurable to dance to and easy on the ear. Since the customers keep asking us back we must be doing something right’.
