THE EVENT
A weekend of English Country Dance to suit all tastes (#24 in the series). The series is
organised and led by John & Hilary Turner.
On this occasion the calling was shared between John and our 'Guest' Caller
Barrie Bullimore with music provided by Dan & Caroline Hollingshurst.
The weekend commenced with dinner on the evening of Friday 13th November, 2009 and concluded with a farewell dance on the afternoon of Sunday 15th November. There was a mixture of dances & workshops, and some free time to explore Skipton & the beautiful environs.
GUEST CALLER - Barrie Bullimore| BARRIE BULLIMORE caught the dance bug in his last year at school (1957!) and started to call when at university. He brings a light- hearted approach to his calling with an emphasis on helping dancers to enjoy themselves and each other. He is equally at home with English and American dance and, knowing his own limitations, doesn't sing! He has "done" all the major UK dance festivals as well as calling in the US, the Czech Republic and Denmark. |

GUEST MUSICIANS - Dan & Caroline Hollingshurst.
| DAN & CAROLINE HOLLINGSHURST (Folkus Pocus) met whilst studying music at university and have been playing professionally as a duo for 7 years. Their driving fiddle and piano combination, with occasional flute and recorder, is tinged with jazz, classical and improvisatory elements. This ensures that their sound is always fresh, vibrant and, above all, great dance music. In demand at festivals and dances across the UK and Europe, Folkus Pocus have quickly established themselves as one of the best social and contra dance bands around. THE RENDEZVOUS HOTEL
The RENDEZVOUS is a
modern hotel on the outskirts of the charming market town of Skipton,
Nth Yorks. The accommodation is comfortable and stylish, with a spacious
3rd floor ballroom. The restaurant has a reputation for fine cuisine and there's an indoor leisure centre including swimming pool.
