The weekend commenced with dinner on the Friday evening and ended with a farewell dance on the Sunday afternoon. There was a mixture of dances & workshops, and some free time to explore Morecambe, Lancaster & the beautiful environs.
Guest Caller - Lynne Render
Lynne is a dancer & caller from
Loughborough in Leicestershire, where she has
been calling for local clubs for a number of years. Since participating in a Caller's
workshop at Sidmouth in 1998 and appearing at the festival the following year, she is
now calling for dances & ceilidhs and at festivals, including Sidmouth, Chippenham,
Eastbourne, Bromyard & Casterton.
She enjoys calling a mixture of English & American dances and is always on the
look-out for interesting but nicely flowing dances to add to her repertoire. She firmly
believes that a clear explanation will enable the less-experienced dancer to
enjoy a good dance. Lynne enjoys a wide range of dancing herself through social dance,
ceilidhs and Appalachian clogging.
Pauls’ long time involvement with dance has taken him across Europe
and the States working with many of the most respected callers. Although his concert
band ‘Hoover the Dog’ has taken priority since the demise of Belshazzar’s Feast, Paul
still finds time to play for dance, most recently at a series of events at Cecil Sharp
House with Chris Turner, Andrew Shaw and Ian Jones. Paul is looking forward to this
opportunity to work with not only John again, but also with Val Will - an excellent
violinist whom he first met at Norwich Festival.
