The Light-hearted Dance Weekends
Venue: The Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish Warren, Devon. 18th - 20th October 2019.
THE EVENT

A weekend of English Country Dance to suit all tastes (#42 last in the series), with dances from the period c1650 to the present day including New England Contras and Squares.

The weekend commences with dinner on the Friday evening and concludes with a farewell dance on the Sunday afternoon. There will be a mixture of dances & workshops, and some free time to explore the local environs.

The series is organised and led by John & Hilary Turner. It is aimed at enthusiasts who enjoy their dancing and aspire to improve their skills, and knowledge of English Country Dance, but not at the expense of courtesy and cordiality.
The calling is shared between John and our 'Guest' Caller, and the music is provided by our 'Guest' Musicians . The emphasis will be firmly on enjoyment.

GUEST CALLER - Maggie Hosking
Maggie, A member of the EFDSS, “discovered” Folk Dance in 1990 after moving to Warwickshire. As dance teacher for the Wayfarers she enjoys display dancing & regularly performs at home & abroad. This will be her third Light-hearted Dance Weekend and she looks forward to renewing & making new friendships & sharing with you the ‘joy’ of the dance.

GUEST MUSICIANS - Pete and Sue Hall
Pete and Sue, an accordion and recorder duo from Fareham, have been playing for dancing for more than 40 years, and often work with John at dance clubs in Southern England (they were also dancers at John's first public dance as a caller)! Over the years they have played for a range of dance events and clubs, as well as spending a short time playing for display dancing at festivals. Pete and Sue particularly enjoy a variety of musical styles, ranging from classical to modern compositions, and always try to provide a danceable sound at a pace suited to the capabilities of the dancers.’
