THE EVENT
A weekend of English Country Dance to suit all tastes (#21 in the series). The series is
organised and led by John & Hilary Turner.
On this occasion the calling was shared between John and our 'Guest' Caller
Carol Hewson with music provided by John Dudley & Frank Bradley of Pendragon.
The weekend commenced with dinner on the evening of Friday 18th January, 2008 and concluded with a farewell dance on the afternoon of Sunday 20th January. There was a mixture of dances & workshops, and some free time to explore Bournemouth & the beautiful environs.
GUEST CALLER - Carol Hewson| CAROL HEWSON calls dances in a variety of styles from Playford to New England Squares and Contras; a few Scottish dances have been known to creep into an evening dance programme too. Carol is passionate about keeping Traditional Dances alive whilst embracing the new dances of the age. She believes Folk Dancing should be fun and her motto is " Wear comfortable shoes and a smile" |

JOHN DUDLEY and FRANK BRADLEY of Pendragon Dance Band will be familiar
to many of you as they are regular performers at dances and festivals
all over the south, and have played for us twice before.
Their unusual style blending the pulse and rhythm of the button accordion with the melody of the violin has proved popular for many years and we are sure that our feast of dancing will be complemented by the tasteful dressing of their music ! |

HOTEL PICCADILLY
The hotel, an AA 3 star establishment in Bournemouth, Dorset, is 'the
prime venue for hosted dancing holidays in the UK'. The accommodation is
comfortable and stylish, and the spacious ballroom has a magnificent
maple floor, sparkling chandeliers, delightful period paintings and
dramatic drapes. The restaurant is well known for its fine
cuisine.
All accommodation is en-suite and is available in Double, Twin
(shared) and Single rooms (very limited in number). A small number of
guests are accommodated in an adjacent hotel.

Bath Road close to the centre of Bournemouth, approx 10 mins walk from
the pier, and only a short distance from the coach & rail stations with
regular services from London and other regional centres.
